MDCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Chapters Recognized as 2024 REACH Chapters
MOORHEAD, MS (Mar. 31, 2025) – Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) is proud to announce that both its Moorhead Chapter (Zeta Zeta) and Greenville Chapter (Beta Rho Omicron) of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) have been named 2024 REACH Chapters. This prestigious recognition is awarded through PTK's REACH Rewards program, which honors chapters excelling in membership development and student engagement.
As part of the recognition, each chapter will receive PTK graduation stoles, which will be distributed to chapter officers or members to be worn during commencement ceremonies. These stoles symbolize academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service—hallmarks of PTK membership.
MDCC President Dr. Steven Jones praised the chapters for their outstanding achievement,
stating, "We are deeply honored to be recognized as a REACH Reward recipient by Phi
Theta Kappa. This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our chapters' advisors
and the academic achievements of our students. I commend our advisors and students
for a job well done."
The REACH Rewards program reflects PTK's mission of increasing student success by
providing access to scholarships, leadership opportunities and campus engagement.
The dedication of MDCC's PTK advisors has played a crucial role in helping students
take full advantage of these benefits.
Nicole Andrews, co-advisor for the Zeta Zeta Chapter, emphasized the importance of membership development, saying, "We are thrilled to receive the PTK REACH Rewards for our efforts in membership development. This recognition reflects our chapter's dedication to promoting academic excellence, leadership and service among our members. It not only honors our efforts but also inspires us to continue helping students reap the benefits of membership."
Dr. Charnecca Barnes, co-advisor for Zeta Zeta, echoed these sentiments, adding, "This is a significant achievement for our chapter, which has shown great leadership, dedication and service."
Pam Venton, advisor for the Beta Rho Omicron Chapter in Greenville, highlighted the lasting impact of PTK on students, stating, "Phi Theta Kappa is more than an honor society. Membership in PTK has always produced life-changing experiences for the officers and members at the MDCC Greenville campus."
With this recognition, MDCC's PTK chapters continue to build a strong foundation for student success, offering members opportunities to engage, lead, and excel. MDCC is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of its PTK members and looks forward to the continued growth of both chapters.
