Congressman Bennie Thompson Annual College & Career Fair a Success at MDCC

MOORHEAD, Miss. (Oct. 12, 2023) — Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) celebrated a resounding success as it hosted the Congressman Bennie Thompson College and Career Fair for the first time in its 17-year history on October 6. This milestone event was proudly sponsored by U.S. Congressman Bennie Thompson, with generous support from the U.S. House of Representatives.

Over 1,500 enthusiastic high school students from across the region converged upon MDCC to participate in this exceptional opportunity. The College and Career Fair featured an impressive lineup of 35 businesses and 22 institutions of higher learning. These students, who represent the future of Mississippi, engaged with the array of educational and career pathways presented to them.

In a heartfelt Instagram post following the event, Congressman Bennie Thompson expressed his gratitude to the youth, educational institutions, and businesses. He stated, "This day was a success thanks to the youth, colleges, and businesses. The staff and I are looking forward to seeing you all again next year!"

On Facebook, Congressman Thompson further emphasized the importance of providing knowledge and resources to the next generation, recognizing that they are the future. He highlighted the incredible mindset and thirst for knowledge exhibited by the students and young adults who attended. "Since the next generation is our future, we must do everything in our power to provide them with the resources they need to achieve their goals," he said.
