Dr. Basil Gooden, Delta Regional Authority Co-Chair Dr. Corey Wiggins, USDA MS State
Director Dr. Trina George, Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons, Washington County Economic
Alliance Executive Director Justin Burch and other community, regional and federal

to the community.
On Friday, May 3, 2024, President Jackson hosted a special luncheon for local, regional
and state officials at the MDCC Greenville campus immediately following the unveiling.
"This is but a small gesture of thanks for those who work tirelessly to ensure that
the communities we serve continue to develop and grow. As the largest municipality
in the Mississippi Delta, the City of Greenville serves as a critical hub for education
and economic development – both areas in which we are inherently vested by virtue
of what we do as an institution. Congratulations to all stakeholders on this beautiful
addition to the community. We continue to stand in partnership with you in building
a better Mississippi and Mississippi Delta, one opportunity at a time!"
Dr. Trina George, State Director for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA),
also offered her congratulations and thanks to each of the local and state partners
who've been critical to the work. "We are always delighted by the local partnerships
and collaborative support we receive from community stakeholders in the Mississippi
Delta," said George. "From Dr. Jackson's hospitable gesture to the zeal and energy
we continue to see from City, Regional and Federal partners, the Delta is poised to
continue to flourish, and we are always energized to work in this community."
MDCC Greenville Campus Director Dr. Temika Michael Simmons and MDCC's Capps Technology
Center Director, Vice President Doug Freeze, were on hand to congratulate, celebrate
and host local, regional and state officials at the MDCC Greenville campus and provide
an overview of the many academic and technical programs available at the Greenville
and Indianola campuses.
