MDCC Welcomes Over 500 Students for High School Preview Day
MOORHEAD, MS – Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) recently hosted its annual High School Preview Day, welcoming more than 500 students to campus for an immersive look at academic programs, student life, and support services. The event, organized by MDCC Recruiter Stacey Wells and the enrollment management team, gave prospective students a firsthand experience of what it means to be a Trojan.
MDCC President Dr. Steven Jones expressed excitement over the turnout and the opportunity to introduce students to the college’s offerings.
“We were thrilled to welcome over 500 students to MDCC for High School Day,” said Jones. “High School Day presents an opportunity for us to showcase our academic, career-technical, and health sciences programs, student support services, and activities. Our message is simple:
- Students looking for high-quality education at an affordable price should look no further than MDCC.
- Students looking for small class sizes where instructors know them by name should look no further than MDCC.
- Students looking for a creative and innovative approach to teaching and learning should look no further than MDCC.
- Students looking for student support staff who go above and beyond to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources needed to be successful should look no further than MDCC.
“High School Day was a great success, and we have our enrollment management team to thank for all of their hard work in planning this amazing event. I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to thank our high school counselors, principals, and superintendents who made it possible for their students to attend the event. I look forward to welcoming many of our student attendees to campus this fall,” said Jones.
A total of 547 students from 10 high schools registered for the event, with additional students and parents attending from schools not initially on the roster. Students had the opportunity to check their application status, explore academic and career-technical programs, and engage with student organizations. They were also able to experience the vibrant Trojan spirit through performances by the MDCC band, choir, cheerleaders, and dance team.
"This year's High School Preview Day was a phenomenal event!" said MDCC Recruiter Stacey Wells. "It was a unified effort from President Dr. Steven Jones, the recruiting department, collaborating departments, student organizations, faculty, staff, and even some student-athletes who all came together to make the event a success.
"Students were able to visit student life information stations and advisory stations—including academic majors, career-technical programs, and health-science programs—and truly get a feel for life at MDCC. The atmosphere on campus was energetic all week. Ja'Coby Braboy, our newest recruiter, and I would like to thank everyone who participated."
The event also featured numerous door prizes and a $500 scholarship giveaway generously donated by Planters Bank.
