MDCC Holds Coronation

MOORHEAD, Miss. (Sept. 29, 2022) – On Wednesday, Sept. 28, Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) held a coronation ceremony for Mister and Miss MDCC 2022-2023.

Mister Cle’various Thornton of Moorhead and Miss Jah’Daelynn Smith of Indianola received the honor of being crowned Mister and Miss MDCC, while several other students were chosen to represent various clubs, teams, and groups.

Christopher Lee, director of adult education, and Allison Brady, adult education college and career navigator, served as master and mistress of ceremonies.

The program began by honoring Mister and Miss Freshman Jakori Johnson and Roslyn Green, followed by Miss Sophomore Jessica Fulgham.

The 2022-2023 Homecoming court was then presented.

Following was the recognition of individuals from athletic and performance groups:

Davis Hayes and Georgia Guest - Mister and Miss Cheerleader
Trey Jackson and Shoquada Joshua - Mister and Miss Basketball
Jaheim Wafford and Ja’Leah Morris - Mister and Miss Band
Chakavionte Griffin and Eu India Lee - Mister and Miss Choir
Marlon Brown - Mister Football
Baylor Leonard - Mister Baseball
Anna Marie Sternisha - Miss Softball
Remonica McMiller - Miss Delta Dancer

Prior to the crowning ceremony, the SGA Executive Board was recognized: Lucas Davis as president, Kierre Sellers as secretary, Yasmin Veal as treasurer, and Jasmine Williamson as parliamentarian.

Fadarryl Cooper and Kalann Haymon then took their farewell walk as Mister and Miss MDCC 2021-2022, prior to MDCC President Dr. Tyrone Jackson crowning Thornton and Smith.
