MOORHEAD, MS (Mar. 26, 2025) – Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) is proud to announce that Representative Jeramey Anderson of the Mississippi House of Representatives will serve as the keynote speaker for the Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremonies on Friday, May 9. Anderson will address graduates at both academic and career-technical ceremonies, scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.

MDCC President Dr. Steven Jones expressed his enthusiasm for having Representative Anderson speak to this year’s graduates.

“I am thrilled to welcome Representative Jeramey Anderson as our Spring 2025 Commencement speaker,” said Dr. Jones. “I have had the pleasure of hearing him speak before, and he does an amazing job of inspiring and motivating audiences. Representative Anderson’s story is one of leadership, perseverance and service, and I truly believe our graduates will walk away from this ceremony feeling empowered by his message.”

Anderson made history in 2013 when he became the youngest African American ever elected to a legislative body in the United States, as well as the youngest individual elected to the Mississippi Legislature. Since then, he has served three terms representing District 110, which includes Moss Point and Pascagoula, advocating for education, economic development, and social justice. In addition to his work in the legislature, Anderson is the founder and CEO of nexiWorks, a digital marketing enterprise, and is actively involved in initiatives aimed at improving access to education, voting rights, and economic opportunities.

A nationally recognized leader, Anderson has been featured on MSNBC, in Essence Magazine and on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show with Roland Martin.” He was honored as a “Young Riser” at the 2015 BET Honors and has been recognized by the United Nations as one of the world’s most influential individuals of African descent under 40.

A sought-after speaker, Anderson has delivered commencement addresses at high schools and colleges across the country, inspiring graduates to embrace their potential and make a difference in their communities. His presence at MDCC’s Spring 2025 Commencement is expected to be a highlight of this year’s ceremonies.

MDCC invites graduates, their families, and the community to attend these special ceremonies and hear Representative Anderson’s powerful message.
