Carpentry Technology

The Carpentry Technology program prepares individuals for jobs in the carpentry trade. The curriculum provides instruction in blueprint reading, estimating, building, installing, and repairing structural units.

Students completing this program are prepared for entry-level positions at any construction facility. They will have acquired the basic technical skills in using equipment and building and have a broadened vocabulary to make the job‐specific learning less difficult. They will also possess team‐building skills, safety awareness, environmental awareness, communication skills, and computer skills that are critical in the workplace.

An ACT composite score of 14 or higher; ACCUPLACER scores of Reading, 60; Pre-Algebra Math, 32; or Next-Generation ACCUPLACER scores of Reading, 238; Math, 350 is required. Students must have a high school diploma, have a High School Equivalency Diploma or have completed at least one unit less than the minimum acceptable high school units as prescribed by law (i.e., if the state requires 21 high school units to graduate, a student can be admitted into a community/junior college with 20 high school units).
