MDCC Moves into New Academic Year with Reorganization

MOORHEAD, Miss. (June 30, 2022) – In an effort to more effectively and efficiently serve its student body and surrounding community, Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) is welcoming new employees and restructuring and reorganizing several administrative positions and departments.

One of the biggest changes is the merging of the Division of Student Services and the Division of Administrative Services to form the Division of Administrative and Student Services under the leadership of Dr. Steven Jones as vice president of administrative and student services. Unless otherwise noted, all of the following changes will take place July 1, 2022, at the start of the 2022-23 academic year.

Nakeshia Fipps, formerly counseling & disability support services coordinator, will become associate dean of student services. Fipps will be directly responsible for counseling and disability services, student activities and recreation, student development and student organizations.

Derrick Fields will continue to serve as dean of student services and will maintain leadership over judicial affairs, the Law Enforcement Training Academy, student housing and residence life and Title IX while also serving as MDCC’s COVID-19 coordinator.

MDCC is welcoming Kameron M. Haymon as a new member of the student services team. Haymon is MDCC’s new coordinator of student activities and recreation. He assumed his new role on June 16.

Another new face around MDCC’s campuses can be seen behind the camera as Shelby Davis began working in the Office of Public Relations on June 1 as graphic designer and photographer.

Markricus Hibbler, Sr., began serving as MDCC’s new chief of police on June 1, and Clifton King assumed the position of assistant chief of police.

The Office of Business Services is also seeing a few changes. Staci Miller, formerly dean of business services, will now serve as vice president of business services, while Christy Mangrum, formerly senior staff account, will take on the role of dean.

Physical Therapist Assistant Instructor Caroline Strazi will become academic coordinator of clinical education while still maintaining her role as an instructor.

“At Mississippi Delta, we are always assessing how we can best serve our student population and the surrounding communities,” said MDCC President Dr. Tyrone Jackson. “With these new members of the Trojan family and this reorganization, I believe we are taking another step forward in becoming the best institution of higher learning in Mississippi.”
